Enticing?

Would this poster make you want to join the ward choir? I'm hoping so, since that's my 2nd calling for the next 3 months (I know, crazy right!) Any tips on how to even lead a choir?
(and notice:the day/month in the date is opposite from what we do)

I really REALLY can't sing, so as much as I love to sing, I probably wouldn't be coming to practice. Sorry. :) But the best advice I've ever heard for a choir director was to really try to teach the message of whatever you are singing. Have fun!

I was the choir director in a married ward, and I really wasn't very good at it. I know how to direct music, but leading a choir is very different! Good luck! (ps, I'd come and sing w/ you if I was in your ward!)

So what is your first calling?

I think the flyer is great.

I would just tend to choose easy songs and try for a violin solo or the like as well. Then, the focus can be the nice (easy) music and your job can be coordinating and organizing rather than trying to teach the specific parts.

Are you still an enrichment leader?

Thanks for the tips!
Yes I'm still the enrichment leader and I'm also leading the music on Sundays in Sacrament meeting, but the choir directer is definately the most intimidating. I'm not even a very good singer...maybe just fair, maybe.

Man that reeks, both of those callings are tuff, though I've never been either, cross my fingers. I agree with Kelli, I would keep the music basic four or two part harmony from the hymnal... or if the ward has a music library, and I would also choose music that you are personally in love with, that way it's is easier to teach notes an the meaning of the words. I would come to your choir for sure.... even with out the awesome flier
