Day 2...Acopia village

this little boy tried to share a poem with us, but got too shy.

Saturday was our first day actually visiting villages, which was the reason why we went to Peru with Hope Projects. We loaded up the group of 30 and headed into the high Andes. Our first stop was a little village that was asking Hope Projects for help so we went to see what the real needs were and if they were a village to consider. The gathering was a small group of parents and a few kids that had been dressed up in their traditional clothing.

One of the mothers had a bag of clothing and dressed these 2 little girls in their finest outfits.

Acopia Village

This unscheduled visit lasted a little longer than we thought, so by the time we reached Acopia village, most of the people had headed back up to their farms to work in the fields. We met at the school, but since it was Saturday the kids were out of school, but it was still a neat experience. Acopia is the village that our family has adopted over that past couple years and has actually progressed further than expected. As we built one school house in the village,

the government took interest and ended up adding to that and building many more school houses so it now supports 300 students. We were also able to dedicate the bathrooms while we were there. It was great to witness the cooperation between government and a charity and what good can come from that!
