Halloween 2011

This year, since Avery had an owl birthday party, I thought I'd carry that theme over to her Halloween costume.  I already had the owl blindfold that I made for her party, so it was just a matter of creating wings and a shirt.  I found a simple tutorial online and went at it...many more hours than I expected later, and I was done with the most colorful owl.

By the third time wearing it, Avery really enjoyed her costume!

For trick-or-treating we headed over to Waterford.  It has the perfect ambiance for the holiday and you get just the right amount of candy for a little girl!

At the beginning, Avery was a little shy, but by the end she figured out what was going on and was confident enough to walk up by herself.
Waterford elementary decorates different houses as storybook themes.  This year we saw Skippy John Jones (one of Avery's favorite books), Splat the Cat, and the Magic Treehouse.
