Avery turns 2!

Two weekends ago we celebrated Avery's 2nd birthday.  It's hard for me to believe that we have a little two year old now, but she is at such a fun stage and we're loving every moment!
Here are some of the details of her party...

Party-goers were greeted with this "2" made of cupcake wrappers.

 The Food
I went much simpler with the food this year...carrots + dip, apples + dip, homemade mac & cheese, muddy buddies, owl cake pops, the cake and mini cupcakes.

The Activities
We had three activities planned:
1. painting owl houses

 2. pin the beak on the owl

 3. Pinata
(in this picture you can also see the mask I made for pin the beak on the owl)

 The Cake
This year the cake was a simple yellow cake with custard filling and chocolate buttercream frosting.  I made a fondant owl for the top.

Thank You
My biggest project in preparing for the part was making all these owl bookmarks.  The kids also got homemade owl suckers in a little bag stamped with, you guessed it, an owl.
Even with all the hours it took to create this party, I really enjoyed putting it on!  It was so sweet to see how excited Avery was to have her "owl" party.  She didn't sleep well the night before and was too excited to take a nap the day of, but she didn't show it and was grinning the whole time.  Even leading up to it, when ever I would get a package or purchase something she would excitedly ask, "Avery's owl party!?".  Happy Birthday my spunky 2-year-old!!
