As the East coast was getting covered in snow last winter, England had it's own record snowfalls (although it was in inches and not feet). In January my friend Emily came out to visit us. One day I took her out to some of my favorite villages in the Cotswolds and we stopped at Jacob and my favorite restaurant. When we got out of the restaurant, it had started to snow, but we really didn't think anything of it since we were only about a 1/2 hour from our house. Emily ran into a chocolate shop and as I was waiting in the car for her, I noticed a all the shopkeepers closng their stores. One man came out and talked with me, questioning where I was headed to. When I told him Cheltenham, he said there was no way we'd make it back there and that we should just get a hotel for the night. I wasn't about to stay there overnight, especially since I had no way to get in touch with Jake, so Em and I decided to brave the weather and make our way back home. I wasn't sure the best way to get home, so we just followed the GPS, which of course took us on the most back roads. I inched along as my car slid around the country lanes, but it was absolutely beatiful with all the fresh snow and no other cars in sight. We made it along pretty good until we hit a major road, where cars were at a standstill. What should have taken us half an hour to get home ended up taking 4 hours.
driving the country lanes.
then we hit this...
For one of our outings, we bundled Avery all up in her little suit, laid her down on the floor while we were getting ready, and turned to see her fast asleep. Pour little thing could barely move her arms in this thing, but it kept her warm!
I just think the Cotswolds are so storybook charming, especially in the snow.

Nice photos, Ashley! Those sure are my kind of "winter wonderland" pictures! Thanks for catching up with so many pictures of Avery. It's nice to follow along and see her grow. Tell Jake hello for us and we wish you all a wonderful Christmas! Con mucho amor y abrazos!
Beautiful photos, as always. I hear the traffic there is really bad. How long did it take you to start feeling comfortable driving there?
