We're excited to announce that we welcomed
Avery Grace
into the world on
Saturday April 11 at 10:57 am.
She weighed a petite 6lb. 4oz and is 20 inches long.
She is absolutely perfect in every way and we are so in love!

After the threat of having to go a 1 1/2 weeks overdue I thought it was time to try to get things going after my mom arrived on my due date. So while my mother and I were talking I downed 1/2 a bottle of caster oil which sent me into labor 7 hours later. Right after we went to bed on Friday night, at around 11:30 I woke up with strong contractions that were keeping me awake. Finally around 1:30am I woke Jake up and asked him to run me a bath to try to relieve the pain. The contractions seemed to be so close, so we started timing them and they were only about 2 minutes apart. After an hour of timing, without them letting up at all I called my midwife and was told to go straight to the hospital.
We arrived at the hospital at 4am and I was already 4cm dilated and 80/90% effaced. I was able to get an epidural right away, but unfortunately it went the wrong direction and didn't relieve the contractions but made my head a little fuzzy. They eventually came and replaced my epidural which caused the rest of my labor to be a piece of cake. By 5am I was 8cm dilated and by 8am I was fully dilated and could start pushing. You would think that pushing out a 6lb baby would be no problem, but after an exhausting 3 hours of pushing, we discovered that Avery was "straight OP", meaning instead of facing down, she was facing straight up, which made it like pushing out a 9lb baby (according to my midwife). Avery came out crying, but after a few minutes in my arms she had stopped breathing, a team of nurses from the NICU rushed in and she was quickly resuscitated...making for a terrifying minute, but everything has been fine since.
We feel so blessed to have little Avery in our lives! Her daddy is completely in love and can't get enough of holding and kissing her, and she adores him back! And of course, I am just in heaven!

Wow! She is a beautiful girl. Congratulations. I think I'm going to have to use that caster oil trick to. Enjoy your little one
She looks exactly like Jake in this picture!
She is even more adorable in person. I just loved her long fingers and feet and her little fuzzy mullet. We can't wait to see more pictures of the sweet pea. Congratulations again!
Yeah yeah yeah! We've been thinking about you and wondering! Glad to read she's finally here & everything is great and your little scare was only temporary! (I know how those are!)All our love!
She's darling! And so little! Congrats! I'm glad she made it here safely. Isn't it amazing how once your little one arrives you can't imagine life without them?? I can't wait to see more pictures.
You didnt even talk about how absolutely snuggly she is!!! :) She is so perfect and so peaceful!!! Im so excited for you guys!!!
And i am making a pretty educated guess that having an OP baby is more intense than having a 9 lb baby...i had a 9lb baby and it was not comparable to what pushing was like for you. maybe a 14lb baby??
hope you're still recovering well! Cant wait to see you guys again!
xo!
Congrats!! She is so darling and looks perfect, like a little piece of heaven.
She's absolutely beautiful...even though she does look a lot like Jake ;)
