Surprise!

I love surprises, but if I know there's going to be a surprise, it drives me crazy because I just want to know what it is. 2 weeks ago, my mom pulled off the perfect surprise, without me even having a clue. Some of my friends were throwing me my first baby shower. I knew that my mom had been invited, but also knew that because of some scheduling conflicts, among other things, there was no way she was going to be able to make it (it is across the country after all).
Well about 1/2 hour before my shower, I was upstairs getting ready when Jacob called up that I had a visitor (Jacob had no idea either). Thinking that it was my mother-in-law there to pick me up, I came down to discover my mom standing in my kitchen. My mother-in-law had picked her up from the airport earlier that day. I was thrilled to have my mom there for such a fun celebration! It meant the world to me that she would make that effort even with everything going on. Have I mentioned that I have the best mom in the world?!
